This lamp comes with a 4 watt LED bulb (about equivalent to a 35 watt incandescent). The warm-white verion is ideal to help you feel cosy, yet giving you a good level of light to make reading easy and comfortable, or just relaxing watching television or chatting to friends.
The research on melatonin shows that bright light at night and in the evenings can stop our bodies from producing melatonin, which is what helps keep us healthy and gives us good quality of sleep. So warm white at night is better for our biology than bright light.
In the morning things change.
Daylight bulbs have a different quality of light, more like natural light which helps our mood lift and maintains our energy levels better. This is maybe what you need from your desklamp if you use it during the day and need good lighting to help you focus on tasks, especially where good colour discrimination is required, or focused fine detail. One of our other brighter 7 watt lamps my be better at that time. The bulbs are not interchangeable as they have different sized screw threads (SES and ES).
