Dark coloured eyes and electromagnetic fields at work are more likely to give you cancer22nd September 2010A recent study showed that women with dark eye colour were nearly 6 times more likely to develop uveal melanoma, a form of cancer of the eye, if their work environment included exposure to electromagnetic fields. The study looked at data from 9 European countries. Women seemed to be more at risk than men. The electromagnetic exposure was estimated rather than measured, which always makes the conclusions a little less reliable. The sources of electromagnetic exposure included computer screens. Reflective environments can make your exposure to RF transmitters worseA group of researchers in Belgium looked at the variability in radiofrequency electromagnetic exposure which arose as a result of the environment in which the person was. They used computer modelling to try out a number of potential environments and RF sources and found that the variation was very large indeed, and in some cases could exceed ICNIRP limits. The RF environments included being near emitters of DECT phones (2.1 GHz) and WiFi frequencies (3.5 and 5.0 GHz). Archived News
