Asphalia - Further Information
Melatonin has been shown in many studies to be an important hormone in maintaining a healthy immune system. Increased melatonin levels have been shown to aid sleep, both in terms of quality and length of sleep. Melatonin is a particularly powerful antioxidant, 5 times more potent than vitamin C, which acts as a natural anti-cancer agent in the body. Melatonin is also involved in mood control. Changes in melatonin levels may be the mechanism behind the links between EMFs and many ill health conditions including immune system problems, chronic fatigue and depression. Melatonin is present in many plants, possibly to protect against UV light. For detailed information (including scientific references) on the extensive health benefits of melatonin, please see our free article (in 4 sections). Asphalia contains a natural meadowgrass (Festuca arundinacea), grown in South Wales, which is a very good source of natural melatonin. It is important that you only take Asphalia in the evening, as Melatonin supplementation may disrupt circadian rhythms, if taken during the day. Electrosensitive people should start with only half a dose. Do NOT take asphalia if pregnant or asthmatic. It is not recommended for children under 1 year of age.
