Traditionally, DECT cordless phones emit high levels of EMFs. The base unit transmits all the time, whether the phone is in use or not, and the handset transmits at full power when in use, regardless of how far the handset is from the base unit. For people who are electrosensitive, or those who wish to take a precautionary approach towards EMFs, clearly this is not a good thing! If you ARE electrosensitive, then a cordless phone of any variety is unlikely to be suitable.
Analogue landlines are still your safest option, however if you are in need of a cordless phone (they are, after all, extremely convenient), then we are now able to offer the following:
Tests indicate that the phone indeed switches itself off beautifully
when not receiving or making a call - the base unit DOES stop emitting completely. The radiation falls from 100% (typical normal DECT levels) to 25% when working in the "low radiation" mode. The phone and the base unit automatically drops to the lower level when appropriate, or you can set a switch on the base unit to force the base unit and all handsets to always only work in the "low radiation" mode.
One other commercially available cordless phone that claims to transmit at low levels of radiation (around 75% lower than normal is their claim) is a Siemens S670 or S675 (with answerphone) - but ONLY the single handset versions as these are the ONLY ones that will stop transmitting when the handset is in the cradle. When you add more handsets, the Siemens phones transmit all the time.
Please note that we stock the version of the phone WITH an answerphone. You can get the phone for a cheaper price elsewhere but this does NOT include the answerphone.
