In many ways, electrical hypersensitivity or EHS is similar to an allergic (or idiopathic) reaction to electromagnetic fields. Some people react only to powerfrequency fields (especially computers and fluorescent lights), some people only to radiofrequency (especially mobile phones and masts) and some react to both.

The symptoms can vary but always appear when the sufferer from EHS is near to the EMF source. As time goes on, the symptoms can take longer to go away after the exposure has stopped.

Because we live surrounded by EMFs in every aspect of our existence, people who develop a sensitivity can find their environment makes them feel more and more ill. To add insult to injury, many people find that they are met with disbelief from friends, family and their local GP. They may be told they are imagining it, and that it is "all in their mind". It is difficult to get medical help as GP surgeries and hospitals are full of the EMFs that make the EHS sufferer ill.

This book has information on the causation and symptoms of ES, with an extensive chapter on what you can do to make your environment easier to live in. If you believe you may be affected, this book may help you convince those around you that you are not going mad, that you are suffering from a condition that is not only serious, but is affecting tens of thousands of people in the UK, probably about 3% of the population. The numbers are growing daily as more and more people are becoming sensitised to the increasing EMF pollution.

It contains details of support groups and research into this (as yet) little understood, but very debilitating illness.
