[Window film] Screening Material - Chromax EMF - Further Information
Since the 1970s occupational exposure to microwaves has been linked to the adverse health effects shown in the table on the right. These effects were discovered before the general public became exposed to microwaves as a result of the phenomenal increase in mobile phone masts, base stations, cordless phones and WiFi. Despite reassurances from the mobile phone system operators and some government officials that this radiation is safe, local communities are reporting the same health effects arising wherever a mast springs up. Planning regulations seem to be unable to stop the spread of masts. If you suspect that you, or members of your family, may be experiencing health problems as a result of mast exposure, you can protect them from microwaves coming into your home, with the material you can see in the picture. The same new technology is also being used in digital cordless (DECT) phones. Having one of these in your house is like having your own mast beaming out microwaves 24 hours a day. Even if you do not have one, your neighbour might, and as microwaves travel through walls, you could be exposed to quite high levels of radiation. If your neighbour has WiFi, you may be exposed to RF from the router, which is often placed in the window near the phone socket. BT claim the signal extends 'line of sight' over 100 metres, it will be certainly up to 50 metres. If your neighbour's WiFi system is one using the 5600 MHz frequency, Chromax is inadequate to screen this, as the protective qualities of this material reduce significantly above 4000 MHz see Screening Graph . Naturell material screens well at 5600 MHz. This material is ideal for curtaining, as it allows a great deal of light to come through windows. It is white in colour, and can be carefully washed, ironed, and copes with a reasonable degree of handling. The material is 2.5m wide, and the price above is for one linear metre. Screening material hung at the windows will not need earthing as it does not pick up and re-radiate electric fields from house wiring. Lengths of material can be joined together, using a small (1 cm) overlap seam. The material could also be used as a screen on the wall between you and your neighbour's phone. Our carbon paint is another option if this is your situation. | © Copyright EMFields 2005 - 2012 |
