EMF Surveys

EMFields have been doing EMF surveys for over 15 years for a wide range of commercial, industrial and residential buildings, commissioned by councils, by private and public organisations and businesses, and by members of the public. We currently offer low-cost, independent residential surveys for people concerned about electromagnetic fields in their home. These concerns may arise from a variety of situations:

• Proximity to overhead powerlines or substations
• Proximity to mobile phone base stations, TV/Radio transmitters, or other wireless masts.
• Specific household electrical equipment e.g computers with wireless networks, baby monitors, cordless phones
• House wiring concerns
• Electrosensitivity (ES) or other negative health effects related to EMFs

A survey may be appropriate if you do not want to hire an instrument, are unsure of how to interpret measurements you have taken yourself, or seek the authority or reassurance of a professionally written report. Our surveys consist of a thorough on-site survey and a written report, detailing measurements found, their relation to typical, precautionary and legal guidelines, as well as any steps that can be taken to reasonably reduce fields (if necessary). We use fully calibrated scientific equipment to measure the EMFs produced, including all relevant areas and equipment.

Our costs begin at £475 (including VAT), which includes the survey, 100 miles of travelling (each way), 2 hours of travelling (each way) and the written report. For distances that are more than 2 hours travelling or 100 miles each way, please add £35 / hr to cover our time, and 40p / mile to cover travelling costs by car. London (and possibly other) surveys may include train and underground costs, instead of car travel costs. Overnight charges will be made, if appropriate and agreed beforehand. Please also note that we require payment 2 days in advance for residential surveys. We are based in Cambridgeshire (our postcode is CB6 2QA), and will be estimating times and distances using RAC Route Planner. Using this should give a good estimate of distance and time, but some special situations may differ from the website's predictions. The map below gives a rough map of the basic cost threshold.
